2022年千葉市美術館で開催された「とある美術館の夏休み」展に合わせて作った作品。
千葉市美術館の所蔵作品を自由に選んで、新作とコラボレーション展示をする企画。
ジョルジュ・ビゴーが明治36年に描いた「稲毛海岸」と共に、千葉市美術館の監視係の人々に取材した写真とテキストを展示。監視係の方々にインタビューを行い、それぞれが思い入れのある場所で撮影、異なる技法で表現した。
埋め立て工事によって消えた稲毛海岸の絵、現代の稲毛海岸を見つめる人、ビゴーが日本の風景を見つめる眼差し、ビゴーの絵を監視する職員のストーリーを構築。絵画という窓を通して、時代を超えて共に生きる画家と監視者の関係を描いた。
This work was created for the exhibition “Summer Vacation at a Certain Museum” at the Chiba City Museum of Art in 2022.
The project was to exhibit new works inspired by works in the collection of the Chiba City Museum of Art.
Based on my research of “Inage Beach” painted by Georges Bigot in 1903, I interviewed the security guard of the Chiba City Museum of Art and created photographic works and texts using different techniques.
The exhibition constructed a story of the Inage Coast paintings that disappeared due to land reclamation, people looking at the Inage Coast today, Bigot’s gaze on the Japanese landscape, and the staff monitoring Bigot’s painting. The relationship between the painter and security guards, who live together through the window of a painting, transcends the ages.
